Sesame Street realigns education, research and data functions

Forming a new, more unified community of educators from across the organization, Sesame Workshop, the global impact nonprofit behind Sesame Street, has realigned its education functions into the new Research, Education, Data, & Impact (REDI) group. REDI will report to Dr. Alison Bryant, Chief Research, Education, Data, & Impact Officer.

“We’re committed to having a more focused and aligned organization to have greater impact and better scale our knowledge and expertise,” said Steve Youngwood, Sesame Workshop CEO. “The creation of REDI reinforces the central role that education plays in everything we do. The team’s insights will help fuel strategic priorities, promote continued innovation, and maximize the organization’s global reach and impact educating and supporting children and families everywhere.”

Reporting to Dr. Bryant are: Akimi Gibson, who has been promoted to SVP, Multiplatform Global Education Planning & Integration. Recognizing the complexities of creating content across platforms and geographies, Gibson will lead the organization in developing holistic educational content strategies across impact areas and verticals. Most recently, Gibson was Vice President & Educational Publisher, Formal Learning and Content Synergy, leading the Formal Learning initiatives, partnerships, and business; Dr. Rosemarie Truglio, SVP, who will continue to lead the Curriculum & Content team, focused on media content creation across platforms, global licensed products, and family experiences. She will now take on products for the formal learning market; Rocio Galarza, VP, who will continue to lead the U.S. Education team for U.S. Social Impact. She and her team will be integrating programmatic work on the formal learning business; Carolina Casas, VP, who will continue to lead the International Education team for International Social Impact programs.

The Workshop’s research and data groups, along with the Joan Ganz Cooney Center, already reported to Dr. Bryant.
