Mattel Reveals Trailer for ‘Hot Wheels Let’s Race’ Season 2, coming to Netflix

Mattel announces Season 2 of the hit animated series Hot Wheels Let’s Race will debut globally Monday, September 9 on Netflix. Upon premiering in March 2024, the first season of Hot Wheels Let’s Race spent four weeks in the Global Top 10 TV (English) and reached Top 10 TV in 69 countries.

In Season 2 of Hot Wheels Let’s Race, Coop, Spark, Mac, Brights, Axle, and Sidecar are buckling up for all-new thrills. Developed by Mattel Television Studios and inspired by the world’s number-one selling toy,* the action-packed comedy series features even more epic cars, jaw-dropping races, extreme stunt contests, and thrill-seeking challenges for the entire family. Patrick Stump, award-winning musician, singer-songwriter, and lead vocalist for Fall Out Boy, composed, recorded, and produced the theme song for Hot Wheels Let’s Race in addition to leading the composition of the score, underscore, and music cues for all episodes.

With the Camp Champ Grand Prix completed and a winner crowned, Season 2 centers on the racers as they move on to the camp’s next level of training at the Ultimate Garage. The kid racers prepare for their toughest challenge yet, as whoever wins the next set of races gains the ultimate prize: control of the Ultimate Garage and everything in it! The stakes are higher than ever, with Season 2 marking the introduction of Cruise, the mysterious new racer and driver of the scary fast Street Shrieker.

“Following the incredible response to Season 1, we are thrilled have the opportunity to bring more Hot Wheels Let’s Race cars, characters, and storylines to kids and families everywhere,” said Rob David, Vice President of Content Creative at Mattel Television Studios and Executive Producer of Hot Wheels Let’s Race. “What an honor it is to fuel the imaginations of Hot Wheels fans and share in the spirit of each new adventure together, one race at a time.”

“I spent a lot of my childhood in my grandpa’s garage handing him tools while he worked on cars and I daydreamed about music,” said Patrick Stump. “But Hot Wheels was my way of connecting to his love of cars. That’s why I was so excited to get the opportunity to work on Hot Wheels Let’s Race with Mattel Television Studios. The word I’m always using to describe my music for this series is ‘pulse.’ There’s a tempo and a rhythm that permeates the series as soon as the tires hit that iconic orange track. It’s a real joy to get to be a part of that and I can’t wait for another generation of kids to see Hot Wheels Let’s Race on Netflix this year.”

Hot Wheels is on pace to make 2024, it’s 56th year, its seventh consecutive year of record highs. In addition to Let’s Race, the robust franchise offers fans everything from its iconic toy vehicles and racing sets to digital experiences such as the Hot Wheels NFT Garage and Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged, live events including the popular Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live tour, storybooks and activity books from Mattel Press, apparel, and more. A live action film in partnership with Warner Bros. Pictures is also in development with J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot set to produce.

Hot Wheels Let’s Race was developed for television by Rob David, Vice President, Content Creative at Mattel Television Studios (Masters of the Universe: Revolution, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Melanie Shannon, Senior Manager, Creative Content at Mattel Television Studios (He-Man and the Masters of the Universe), and Jordan Gershowitz (Sharkdog). Rob David, Christopher Keenan (Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go) and Fred Soulie (Hot Wheels: Ultimate Challenge) serve as Executive Producers, with Mike Roberts (Final Space) as Creative Producer and Diane A. Crea (Barbie: Epic Road Trip) as Senior Producer. Animated services for Hot Wheels Let’s Race are provided by Sprite Animation and OLM Digital.
