The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Signs with IMG

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), the largest transportation network in North America, has announced a landmark partnership with IMG Licensing to expand its global reach and engagement through licensed products and experiences. This multi-year partnership aims to capture the energy and spirit of New York City by bringing the MTA’s iconic assets to life in new ways for consumers around the world.

Under the agreement, IMG Licensing will manage and enhance the MTA’s licensing program, developing new product categories and brand extension opportunities across apparel, accessories, home goods, stationery, publishing, food and beverage, toys and games, and experiential offerings. The partnership will highlight the MTA’s storied heritage while celebrating its integral role as the beating heart of New York City.

Since debuting its first subway line in 1904, the MTA has become a global icon, serving 15.3 million people and powering the energy of “the city that never sleeps.” With nearly 120 years of assets, including its iconic subway route indicators, dynamic logo, station signs, mosaics, maps, and photography collections, MTA is a true reflection of the city’s energy and creativity. Through this collaboration, the brand’s instantly recognizable visual identity will be woven into dynamic new products and experiences for both New Yorkers and fans worldwide.

Robert M. Schwartz, Vice President at IMG Licensing, said, “The MTA is much more than a transit system—it’s a cultural touchstone that reflects the fast-paced, buzzing energy of New York City. From its globally recognized maps and mosaics to its history of artistic innovation, the brand embodies the city’s spirit. We are thrilled to team-up with the MTA to build a robust licensing program that celebrates its heritage while connecting it to a global audience in modern, creative ways.”

IMG Licensing will leverage its extensive experience and expertise in managing licensing programs for a wide range of global automotive, public transportation and motorsports properties.
