Bing makes headline news in Italy

Brand owner Acamar Films and Maurizio Distefano Licensing, Italian agent for the award-winning pre-school series Bing, announce that the multi-award-winning hit pre-school series Bing has been highlighted in a major feature in Panorama,  the respected weekly Italian-language news magazine.

This appearance of Bing in one of Italy’s best-known news magazines underlines its status as a phenomenon among families in Italy – and elsewhere. In fact, the animated series is today a part of the lives of more than 6.2 million people worldwide.

The three-page article was written by journalist Marco Morello who recently visited Acamar Films’ production studios in London and met and interviewed the CEO, Michael Shields.

The article highlighted some of the elements of the show that have made this such an important TV programme, such as the sensitivity of the main character Bing, whose emotions children can understand and empathise with, and the involvement of experienced teachers and paediatric experts in the production – not to mention the incredible viewing figures that testify to the popularity of the series, now showing on multiple terrestrial, pay TV and streaming platforms in Italy.

It’s a popularity that also has driven a very successful licensing campaign, inspiring products ranging from games and apparel to toys, confectionery and homeware.

Maurizio Distefano, whose licensing agency has been managing Bing’s licensing programme in Italy for a number of years, says: “The continuing success of one of the most popular preschool children’s characters in recent years is a tribute not just to his likeability and appealing adventures but an attention to the detail of children’s lives and feelings that parents admire and respect. As this article in one of Italy’s best-known news magazines makes clear, Bing really is a phenomenon.”
