Outright Games donate video games to local hospices for children and young adults

Last week, video games publisher Outright Games, visited Naomi House & Jacksplace, local hospices for children, young adults and their families. Representatives from Outright Games made a donation of 80 video games, 3 consoles and 4 adaptive controllers, collectively worth over £3,500.

Outright Games’ donation of adaptive controllers, opens up enjoyment of video gaming to gamers who may not be able to use a standard controller.

Children and young adults who visit the hospices often play games as a part of their everyday life. Because play encourages communication and socialization, the specialist team at the hospices tailor all activities to each child and young adult. When families visit the hospices, the child or young adult’s care needs are managed by the care team, so that families and friends can focus on being together and creating memories.

Stephanie Malham, Managing Director at Outright Games, said:

“We’re honoured to support Naomi House as their incredible work touches so many lives. We hope these games and consoles bring joy to the children, guests, families, and staff at the hospice. With our UK headquarters down the road in Lee-On-The-Solent we are practically neighbours, this is a small way for us to give back to our community and we look forward to finding other ways to continue supporting their excellent work.”

Claire Potterton, Paul & Activities Team Leader at Naomi House & Jacksplace, said:

“It was brilliant to have Outright Games visit our hospices and to receive the donation of video games and consoles. Our Play & Activities team work hard to create special memories for the children, young adults and families who spend time at Naomi House & Jacksplace. Gaming is a really positive activity at the hospices, it can help children and young adults open up and talk while they’re playing. With adaptive controllers the games become so much more accessible and this opens up even more opportunities for connection. It’s also great fun for siblings, too!”

Chris Meany, Supporter Services Advisor at Naomi House & Jacksplace, said:

“Gaming is such an important hobby for so many of the children and young adults that visit Naomi House & Jacksplace. Granting freedom through independent gaming, whilst also allowing them to connect with friends. From our first exchange of emails with Outright Games, we knew their support would be special. Their generous donation of consoles and games was incredible to receive, and highlighted the importance of creating magical moments for the families we support. We are so very thankful for their generosity.”
