PBS Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
PBS KIDS will help kids and families celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with standout new episodes from two hit animated series—Alma’s Wayfrom Fred Rogers Productions (September 23) and Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum, based on the bestselling “Ordinary People Change the World” books from acclaimed author Brad Meltzer (September 9). Some of the upcoming episodes from both series will feature Sonia Manzano (“Maria” on Sesame Street), the Lifetime Achievement Emmy-winner who broke new ground as one of the first Latino characters on national TV and creator of Alma’s Way. And Alma and her family will also visit the world-famous American Museum of Natural History in the new Alma’s Way stories!
On September 23, Sonia Monzano is back as Granny Isa in Alma’s Way – and Alma tries to get her grandparents to remarry so her whole family can be together all the time. In addition, Alma and her family and friends get to visit the American Museum of Natural History in TWO very special episodes that accurately portray the iconic museum and some of its most popular exhibits, so all families will have the opportunity to experience it for themselves, whether or not they live in the NYC area.
On September 9, families can join Xavier and his pals at the Secret Museum where they go back in time to meet a young Sonia Manzano. When Xavier’s little sister, Yadina, is scared to go to the dentist, Sonia uses her knack for storytelling to help her manage her big feelings.
