Queen is Honoured with Royally Unique Barbie Doll
The Barbie brand attended a celebratory reception at Buckingham Palace hosted by Her Majesty The Queen, President of The WOW – Women of the World Foundation, marking the finale of The WOW Girls Festival Bus Tour following International Women’s Day (8th March). The WOW Girls Festival is a force for change across society in how it sees girls, their potential, and the opportunities it offers for their future.
To celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s role as President of The WOW Foundation and the work of the foundation in empowering girls and women, Barbie created a one-of-a-kind Barbie doll in The Queen’s likeness, complete with a WOW badge. The doll was presented to The Queen at the reception.
The WOW Girls Festival is supported by partners, including WOW UK Girls Champion Barbie, who extended the tour to reach primary-aged children. The brand’s partnership with the WOW Foundation is part of the Barbie Dream Gap Project, Barbie’s ongoing global initiative dedicated to providing equal opportunities and removing barriers for girls. Over the past five years, Barbie has remained committed to closing the gap by challenging gender stereotypes and helping undo the biases that hold girls back from reaching their full potential.
“Since 1959, Barbie’s purpose has been to show girls they have choices,” said Krista Berger, Senior Vice President of Barbie and Global Head of Dolls of Mattel. “In a momentous 65th anniversary year for Barbie, we are proud to be working with incredible global partners, including Women of the World Foundation, to inspire a broader movement that reshapes how society perceives and supports girls’ dreams. Today, we are honoured to celebrate Her Majesty, The Queen, and the WOW Foundation’s commitment to empowering girls.”
