Superights Given International Distribution Rights to Silly Sundays

Superights has been entrusted with international distribution of Silly Sundays (78×7’) created by Nuria Gonzalez Blanco and produced by Emmy and BAFTA winning and 5-time Oscar nominated Irish producer Cartoon Saloon, one of Superights’ long-term partners.

Silly Sundays (78×7’) is a feel-good comedy for upper-preschoolers full of heart that centers around family. We follow 3 kids Sonia, Hugo, Mel with their parents and Granny on those days when there is nothing scheduled except spending time with family and friends. The stories focus on their Sunday journeys and mostly their fun times as they embrace every little moment together. This 2D series takes the characters in lots of different activities such as playing, dancing, cooking, always with an engaging and lovely moral at the end. A unique show that only takes place on those lovely Sundays but can be enjoyed every day with the whole family!

The series has been presold to RTEJr in Ireland and premiered on July 2, 2023. The program has also been acquired by and is currently rolling out on Cartoonito and Max/HBO Max with Warner Bros. Discovery for EMEA, LatAM and the US.

Superights will be in charge of enhancing the visibility of this groundbreaking series internationally and this will start during MIPTV from April 8 to 10.

Nathalie Pinguet, Superights’ Deputy General Manager says: “It’s a real pleasure to finally welcome Silly Sundays to our catalogue. Its highly original graphic style and the quality of its writing make it a delightful series that makes you want to spend your Sundays by the sea with your family! We are going to complete the work started by Cartoon Saloon and export the series around the globe.”

Gerry Shirren, Managing Director at Cartoon Saloon adds “we are delighted to once again to partner with the Superights team and really excited to see the market launch of Silly Sundays at MIPTV. Silly Sundays has been a labor of love for the production team at Cartoon Saloon over the last 4 years, ever since the series made it’s now acclaimed pitch at Cartoon Forum that wowed the audiences there and now we hope will find the same excitement with broadcasters and audiences around the world joining those that are already watching on RTE and Cartoonito and MAX.”
