The Very Hungry Caterpillar Happy Meal launches at McDonald’s Japan
The World of Eric Carle is partnering with McDonald’s Japan to launch the first Very Hungry Caterpillar Happy Meal, including a choice of one of 6 gardening themed toys, which will be available at McDonald’s restaurants nationwide starting May 19 for 5 weeks and will be promoted with a dedicated TV commercial, in-store point-of-sale, exclusive packaging and a digital/social media campaign. The licensing campaign for the World of Eric Carle is managed worldwide by The Joester Loria Group and in Japan though local agent, Cosmo Merchandising.
The first Very Hungry Caterpillar Happy Meal is a total of 6 different toys packed with creative and colorful themed cards. Toys include “Caterpillar garden spray” and “Apple watering can” where you can play with water, and “Slot together plant pot” where you can enjoy watching a Caterpillar grow from an egg to a butterfly. Through these toys, children develop a natural scientific interest in plants and insects, as well as an awareness of shape and space as they identify the shapes of living things. “Caterpillar handle tools” and “Strawberry shower” have a Caterpillar figurine on their handles. Children enjoy playing with the figurine by imagining the picture book story. It will help children’s imagination to be enriched. All these toys can be enjoyed not only for playing at home, but also for outside play at parks and other places. The cards included in the toys have the days of the week written both in Japanese and English, so children can learn the names and order of the days of the week while familiarizing themselves with the two languages.
